Rebel Wolves has announced that The Blood of Dawnwalker sold more than one million copies worldwide in its first three days. For a debut title from a newly formed studio, it is the kind of opening-weekend sprint that usually requires a decade of established IP and a massive marketing budget to achieve.

The studio, founded by former Witcher developers, confirmed the sales milestone on X on September 5, 2026. "Thank you for playing, sharing, supporting, and being part of the community!" the developer wrote.
The sales figures translate to busy digital streets. The single-player action-RPG reached a concurrent peak of 70,692 players on Steam during its launch weekend. The launch follows a warm critical reception, where the game debuted to an 83 Metascore as reviewers praised its unique approach to the genre. Eurogamer's review awarded the game four out of five stars, noting it is "an RPG daring to do things differently, and a lot of what it does works."
The details
The runaway success comes immediately after a tense pre-launch cycle focused heavily on technical performance. After detailing the console versions last week, Rebel Wolves initially revealed that the game would not support a 60fps mode on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S at launch. In an era where 30fps is often treated by parts of the internet as a personal affront, the announcement sparked immediate pushback.
The studio moved quickly to adjust. In a subsequent update to fans, Rebel Wolves stated they "heard your feedback" and acknowledged "how much this mattered to many of you." The team accelerated its final round of testing, confirming that those results gave them the confidence to ship a Performance Mode on day one. It is a rare instance of a developer closing a frame-rate gap before the first patch cycle even began.
Launching a new RPG franchise is traditionally an uphill climb, particularly when competing with established juggernauts. By reaching the million-seller mark in three days, Rebel Wolves has demonstrated that the appetite for dark fantasy RPGs remains high enough to override technical anxieties. The rapid pivot on the console performance mode also highlights a growing industry trend: in a market this crowded, addressing player feedback in hours rather than months is often the difference between a launch-day celebration and a public relations clean-up job.
