The essentials
Amanda the Adventurer
Blumhouse Productions has teamed up with YouTube creator Matthew ‘MatPat’ Patrick to adapt a slate of viral indie horror games into feature films, starting with Amanda the Adventurer. The partnership was confirmed during a panel at New York Comic Con 2026, where the studio noted that Patrick has several movie projects currently in the pipeline.
"I am proud to announce that I’m working with Blumhouse to launch some new movies," Patrick said during the announcement. "I am taking some of my all-time favorite indie games and horror channels from the interwebs and partnering with Blumhouse to bring them to the big screen."
The initial film on the docket, Amanda the Adventurer, adapts the first-person puzzle game that tasks players with untangling an unsettling mystery hidden inside VHS tapes of a low-budget animated children's show. Patrick confirmed that he and Blumhouse are already in discussions with directors and screenwriters to get the project moving quickly.
"It’s horror with heart," Patrick said. "Amanda is this horrifying but tragic character. It asks the question, ‘Can you trust the media being put in front of your kids?’"
The details
The deal highlights Hollywood's ongoing effort to convert internet-native horror games into cinematic franchises. No theatrical release window or casting information was provided at the panel.
