Watch

Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos is officially coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on October 29, 2026, publisher and developer Argonaut Games announced. For those who spent the late nineties navigating early 3D platforming, autumn is about to get highly nostalgic—and slightly scaly.

The studio confirmed the date alongside a brief trailer, marking the next step in its ongoing campaign to bring its classic platformer catalog back to modern consoles. Following the arrival of the original Croc remaster, moving to the sequel was what the developer described as "the next logical step."

This updated edition brings the 1999 sequel forward with refreshed visuals and modernized controls to replace the tank-like handling of the original PlayStation era. The sequel itself expanded on the original game's formula, giving Croc a wider array of movement abilities, more varied objectives, and multiple hub villages to explore.

For virtual archivists, the remaster also introduces the "Crocipedia"—a comprehensive museum mode packed with developer interviews, cut content, and behind-the-scenes production materials from the game's original development. Argonaut is supporting the launch with "Croctober," a month-long social media campaign featuring news and updates about the classic series.

The details

  • Release date: October 29, 2026
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4
  • Key features: Refreshed visuals, modernized controls, and the Crocipedia museum mode

Whether modern controllers can finally tame the physics of late-90s platforming is a question players can answer for themselves at the end of the month.
