Tengo Project Announces S.C.A.T. Remake Cybernetic Attack: Final Mission

The studio behind Pocky & Rocky Reshrined is heading back to the NES era. Tengo Project has revealed Cybernetic Attack: Final Mission, a 16-bit-style remake of the 1990 shoot 'em up S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team, with Winning Entertainment Group publishing.

The original was made by Natsume and launched on the Famicom in Japan on June 22, 1990, reaching the U.S. the following year under the S.C.A.T. name (it was Final Mission at home). Set in a 2029 New York under siege, it put one or two players in rocket packs for a horizontal-and-vertical shooter built around upgradeable weapons and a pair of orbiting satellite pods.

The remake keeps that hand-drawn look while adding new characters and features, in the same vein as Tengo Project's Shadow of the Ninja Reborn. Winning Entertainment Group has shown an expanded cast that includes a hulking mech named Titan and a jetbike-riding boss called Queen Bee, and the game will support nine languages, from English and Japanese to Korean and both Chinese scripts.
