Official character art has been revealed for an upcoming anime adaptation based on Ghost of Tsushima Legends, the multiplayer spin-off mode of Sucker Punch's action game. Because apparently, conquering the live-action space wasn't enough, we're now getting some stylized animated steel-clashing too.
The project, inspired by the multiplayer spin-off mode of Sucker Punch's historical hit, officially showed off its visual direction in the newly released art. It's yet another sign that Hollywood is swapping capes for video games at every opportunity, translating digital swordplay into episodic viewing. Why settle for a straightforward adaptation when you can spin off the spin-off?
So far, the visual showcase gives us our first real glimpse at how the game’s distinct aesthetic is being translated to the screen, focusing heavily on the characters who will carry the series. The details
Spinning off a multiplayer mode into a dedicated series shows just how far Sony is willing to stretch its intellectual properties. Instead of a standard retelling of the main game's plot, focusing on the multiplayer-inspired side of the universe allows the creators to build on a different corner of the franchise, testing if fans are just as invested in the brand's spin-off lore as they are in the mainline story.
