Marvel's Venom: Standalone Spin-Off Still in Active Development

Insomniac Games is still actively developing its long-rumored standalone Marvel’s Venom game, according to industry insider NateTheHate2. For a project born in a leak and nurtured on a diet of radio silence, surviving the latest round of industry shifting counts as a major victory.

The update came via a September 4, 2026 post from the insider, who stated that "Venom is very much still in development upon last check," though he noted he does not know when the title will be officially announced. This aligns with earlier reporting from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who previously dismissed rumors that the game had been canceled.

Word of the symbiote-focused spin-off first surfaced during the major Insomniac data breach, where it appeared on an internal roadmap of upcoming projects. While internal schedules have shifted since that leak, the game appears to have kept its place on the studio's slate. Sony's current public marketing efforts remain entirely focused on Marvel’s Wolverine, which recently went gold ahead of its release.

The details

  • Developer: Insomniac Games
  • Status: In active development (unannounced)
  • Release Date: No release date has been announced
  • Platforms: Not officially confirmed

With no official confirmation from Sony or Insomniac, the symbiote remains in the shadows for now, waiting for its turn in the spotlight once the claws come out.
