Capcom and TiMi Studio Group have opened registrations for the third closed beta test of Monster Hunter Outlanders on mobile platforms. Squeezing a franchise known for massive weapons and giant beasts onto a device that mostly handles group chats and screen-time warnings is an ambitious pivot, to say the least.
The sign-up window is now live ahead of the game's broader mobile launch schedule, the developers announced.
The upcoming title is being designed as a full open-world survival game optimized specifically for smartphones, rather than a simplified companion app. It is an attempt to transplant the series' signature resource-gathering and giant-slaying loop into a pocket-sized format, testing whether players are ready to track prehistoric beasts while sitting on their commute.
The details
Bringing a technically demanding loop like Monster Hunter to mobile represents a major expansion play for Capcom. By partnering with TiMi Studio Group, the publisher is looking to tap into a massive global mobile audience, using these closed tests to ensure the game’s open-world performance translates cleanly to touchscreens before the official launch.
