What it means for the meta

This update centers on quality-of-life adjustments, removing frustrating base hazards and optimizing combat efficiency for active Pals.

Pocketpair has released update 1.0.4 for Palworld, introducing two new sub-missions alongside a sweep of adjustments to combat, fishing, and base building. It comes less than a month after the game's previous patch, proving that in the world of monster-collecting survival, the work of fixing base hazard physics is never truly finished.

According to the developer's official patch notes, the update's headline additions are "Beyond Dimensions" and "From the Far Side of the Moon." These sequential sub-missions begin with an NPC at Fisherman’s Point in Mount Obsidian, with the second quest unlocking only after the first is completed.

For a game that captured massive initial attention, keeping the core survival loop friction-free is key. This update focuses on tightening up minor annoyances, adjusting resource returns, and keeping players from accidentally incinerating their own workforce.

The details

  • New content: "Beyond Dimensions" and "From the Far Side of the Moon" sub-missions
  • Base safety: Players and Pals no longer catch fire from player-built campfires
  • Combat AI: Summoned and Base Pals now prioritize skills that deal higher damage
  • Resource management: Canceling construction now returns materials directly to the inventory

Beyond the quests, the update introduces several changes to daily base operations. When dismantling buildings or canceling work, materials will now return directly to the player's inventory, dropping at their feet only if they exceed their carrying capacity. Additionally, combat and fishing have been recalibrated, with adjusted fishing difficulty in Sunreach and the World Tree area, and new control guides to help reel in catches.

Server administrators also get new tools, including a server setting to limit how many buildings a single player can erect—ensuring the map doesn't get entirely claimed by ambitious real estate projects.
