Kojima Casts Bill Skarsgård as the Lead in Action-Espionage Game PHYSINT

Hideo Kojima has cast actor Bill Skarsgård as the lead in his upcoming action-espionage game PHYSINT, Kojima Productions and Xbox announced Thursday during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast. Because a Kojima announcement is never complete without a Hollywood headshot, the director paired the news with a promotional poster he shot himself.

"I’m delighted to confirm the lead role for PHYSINT will be Bill Skarsgård," Kojima said in a press release. The director added that he and the Swedish actor are "long-time fans of each other's work" and that costume fittings, digital scans, and camera tests conducted earlier this year with Skarsgård and co-star Charlee Fraser have given him "tremendous confidence" in the project's direction.

The casting marks the first major update on PHYSINT since Xbox and Kojima Productions announced last week that Xbox will publish the game, expanding a partnership that already includes the upcoming horror title OD (previously referred to as OD - KNOCK). During the same broadcast, Kojima also shared a brief development update for OD, showing behind-the-scenes performance capture footage of stars Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer.
