A massive wave of leaks has exposed the regional map and early development designs for Pokémon Winds and Waves, according to materials shared on social media by Centro Leaks. For a franchise that typically guards its regional secrets like crown jewels, having its entire upcoming geography mapped out online is a bit of an unscheduled tour.
The leaked assets point to a main region based on Southeast Asia, complete with a southern corner heavily inspired by Australia's Northern Territory. According to the leak, players will start their journey in a resort hotel that serves as an MMO-style multiplayer hub, eventually facing eight Gym types: Grass, Poison, Flying, Fighting, Dark, Normal, Steel, and Fairy.
The materials also suggest the game was in development for the standard Nintendo Switch as early as 2023 before transitioning. While the teaser trailer confirmed the game is an exclusive for the Nintendo Switch successor, leaks indicate the public won't get another official look at the project until Pokémon Day on February 27, 2027.
The details
Whether these leaked blueprints represent the final destination or just a snapshot of early ideas, players now have a guide for a region they officially aren't supposed to visit for quite some time.
