Square Enix says combined shipments and digital sales of Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven have passed one million units worldwide, landing two years to the day after the remake's October 24, 2024 launch. It's the first SaGa game to hit that mark since SaGa Frontier in 1997, Gematsu notes, a gap long enough for the original players to acquire mortgages and back pain.
The full 3D remake of the 1993 Super Famicom RPG launched on PS5, PS4, Switch and PC via Steam, then reached Switch 2 on July 31, 2025 and Xbox Series on September 25, 2025. Square Enix marked the milestone with new artwork from Yoshiro Ambe.
Next up is Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United, a remake of the 1995 original, due February 16, 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. This time every platform is on the list at launch.
The details
Twenty-nine years between million-sellers, and the next one is already dated.
