Sonic the Hedgehog is Officially Joining Fortnite

Sonic the Hedgehog is officially joining Fortnite as part of the battle royale's upcoming gaming-themed season. In a landscape where virtually every pop-culture icon eventually boards the battle bus, Sega's flagship mascot was always a matter of when, not if.

Epic Games pointed to an August 20 release or reveal in a new official teaser trailer titled "New Zone Loading." The crossover brings more than just a cosmetic outfit to the island; players will be able to perform wall-dashes inside a custom Green Hill Zone map area.

For a game that already houses everything from anime heroes to classic horror villains, adding a speedy blue hedgehog is less of a shock and more like checking off the next item on a very long grocery list.
