TL;DR — what matters
• Lighthouse map overhaul goes live September 8
• Rogues relocate to the fortified chalet and will shoot all players on sight
• Added player spawn cover, mountain tunnels, and a BTR travel route
Rogue Relocation & Behavior — Rogues move to the chalet area and now target both USEC and BEAR factions.
Spawn & Road Cover — Added checkpoints to 'the long road' and more terrain/foliage around PMC spawns.
BTR Route & Mountain Tunnels — A BTR now travels the main road, and a new bunker-like tunnel system runs through the mountains.
What it means for the meta
The map gets a major flow adjustment, aiming to reduce instant spawn deaths and make high-threat areas more dynamic.
Escape from Tarkov is deploying a major overhaul to its Lighthouse map on September 8, studio head Nikita Buyanov confirmed on social media. The update represents the most comprehensive redesign of the location since its release, altering player spawns, pathing, and enemy behavior. For a map where players have historically spent a lot of time getting shot from unseen mountaintops, any extra cover is a notable event.
According to the developer's announcement, the core layout and threat distribution of Lighthouse are getting a significant shake-up. The Rogues previously stationed at the Water Treatment Plant are being relocated to the chalet area, which has now become a fortified location. To provide cover along the map's "long road," Battlestate has added checkpoints to prevent players from being shot from the flanking mountains. Player spawns have also been adjusted, with the studio adding extra terrain and foliage to give players immediate cover upon entering the match.
The update also changes how the local defenses treat trespassers. The relocated Rogues will no longer distinguish between USEC and BEAR factions, treating everyone as immediate targets regardless of which flag they fly. For players who used to enjoy a bit of faction-based leniency, the map is about to become an equal-opportunity hazard. Additionally, a BTR driver has found a route onto Lighthouse, traveling up and down the main road to and from the Water Treatment Plant, while a new tunnel system running through the mountainside offers a bunker-like point of interest.
The details
Whether the new checkpoints actually keep players alive or simply give them a prettier place to wait out the extraction timer is something the community will find out tomorrow.
Will the new Lighthouse cover actually save you from getting beamed?
