British developer Bulkhead Interactive announced on September 15, 2026, that its tactical FPS Wardogs had sold two million copies in five days since its Early Access launch. That is a lot of tactical reloading, and a massive pivot for a studio whose previous biggest hit topped out at a fraction of that number.
"2 MILLION COPIES SOLD," the developer shared on X. "We made a game we wanted to play with friends. Watching you play it with yours has been the best. Thank you all. Beyond humbled."
This sudden surge represents a jump for Bulkhead. The studio's prior high-water mark was Battalion 1944 (later retitled Battalion: Legacy), which sold over 250,000 units. Wardogs achieved a peak of 428,666 concurrent players during its first weekend according to SteamDB tracking. The rise follows an early access debut that drew over 266,000 concurrent players in its opening minutes.
The game's reviews currently sit at "Very Positive" on Steam. The momentum was enough to draw eyes from across the industry, with fellow British developer Facepunch's official Rust account dropping in to congratulate the team on social media.
While the sales figures are notable, Bulkhead's leadership is making a unique statement about their success. Following the milestone, Bulkhead's CEO stated, "We’re not transparent and we’re not honest," while commenting, "Don’t buy us if you want to play Call of Duty."
Before finding its viral footing with Wardogs, Bulkhead was best known for projects like The Turing Test, Killrun, and Battalion 1944, some of which were published under the Square Enix Collective.
The details
In an industry where multiplayer shooters often struggle to find a stable audience at launch, reaching two million players in a single week is uncommon for an independent team. For Bulkhead, this success provides a foundation of active players.
