Microsoft has opened the gates to five Ubisoft titles for all Xbox members from Thursday, October 1 until Sunday, October 4, 2026, the company announced. It is a four-day window designed to turn empty hard drives into battlegrounds without requiring an active subscription.
"Your weekend plans are officially set," Xbox Marketing Manager Kyle Ocean wrote on the Xbox Wire on October 1, 2026, introducing the publisher-specific promotion. Playing these titles under normal circumstances usually requires either an active subscription or a standard purchase. For four days, however, Xbox is letting players bypass those barriers entirely, offering a temporary library that spans ancient Greece, a revolutionary island, and the high seas. It is the digital equivalent of a free sample tray at the supermarket, only with a lot more virtual property damage.
The details
To start playing, users can find the titles on their individual Xbox.com store pages or locate the Free Play Days collection on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles under the Subscriptions tab. If you decide to buy, several of the featured titles are carrying deep discounts during the event, including Far Cry 6 down to $8.99 (usually $59.99) and Assassin's Creed Odyssey for $11.99 (usually $59.99).
The roster covers a wide spread of Ubisoft's catalog. Players can take on the regime in Yara in Far Cry 6, or charge into 150v150 Spartan clashes in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Meanwhile, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora drops players into the Western Frontier at a discounted price of $16.49, down from $29.99, while The Crew Motorfest is listed at $47.99, down from $59.99.
For those looking to sail, Skull and Bones is also open to try, coinciding with its Year 3 Season 2: Crimson Waters content. The seasonal update introduces a new fire-focused ship called the Junk, alongside the Abyssal Fleet and progression features like Modification Transfer.
