What it means for the meta
For players, this patch streamlines the grind and removes the single-run limit on post-game progression, making it much easier to optimize builds indefinitely.
Remedy Entertainment has rolled out update 1.4 for Control Resonant on PlayStation 5, delivering on its promised October patch on the very first day of the month. The update introduces an infinite New Game ++ mode, turning what was once a single-loop post-game into a perpetual motion machine of reality-bending combat.
The headline addition allows players to replay the campaign as many times as they wish, according to Remedy’s official patch notes. Given that the game lacks branching narratives, restarting is purely for the love of the loop—or the desire to keep testing your build against the dark.
This follows a previous day-one difficulty hotfix that addressed enemy scaling, as the studio continues to adjust how hard the game punches back. In the Unknown Zone, Remedy has dialed down the pressure, decreasing combat frequency and intensity by 10% to 15%.
Quality-of-life tweaks also make surviving the supernatural less of a bookkeeping exercise. Overall Build Power is now displayed directly on the loadout screen, and new HUD notifications will flag when you have upgrades waiting in The Gap. If you pin materials for an upgrade, the map's vendor icon will now highlight whether they are in stock, saving you a trip across twisted Manhattan.
Audio adjustments round out the update, including a dedicated volume slider for radio dialogue and a toggle to mute Apocalyptica's intro credits track for streamers.
The details
With a Photo Mode already scheduled for November, Remedy is ensuring players have plenty of reasons to keep staring into the void—and now, they can do it forever.
