Red Hook Studios has launched Darkest Dungeon II on the Nintendo Switch 2, bringing boosted resolution and smoother framerates to its grim, carriage-driving roguelike. For players who already survived the journey on the original Switch, the leap forward costs $2.99 (£2.24) rather than the full $42.98 (£36.24) tag, per Nintendo Life.
"Forward now, into oblivion's inky embrace," Red Hook announced alongside the release — proof that even impending doom offers a sensible discount path for returning customers.
The sequel landed on the original Switch in 2024, where Nintendo Life scored it 8/10, and it now joins the growing line of titles getting native Switch 2 Editions. According to the game's store listing, the new version runs at 1080p in handheld mode and 1440p docked, at 60 frames per second. It also adds Joy-Con 2 mouse support plus fast driving and fast combat options.
The details
For anyone holding a copy from the 2024 release, three dollars is about as low a toll as you will find on the road to ruin.
