Dave the Diver is heading into much stranger waters. Mintrocket announced during the Triple-i Initiative showcase that the game's final major DLC is a Subnautica 2 crossover, made with Unknown Worlds Entertainment. The "Subnautica 2 Content Pack" is free and arrives in early 2027.
It turns out the Blue Hole wasn't crowded enough. The pack sends Dave and Bancho across dimensions to Proteus, the alien world of Subnautica 2, where they'll mine resources, hunt unfamiliar creatures and cook new sushi recipes back at the restaurant. Fans of Subnautica 2 will recognize the Nibbler Mangos on the menu, and the trailer shows a large boss and periodic run-ins with the Leviathan.
The details
Mintrocket says it wants the DLC "to play just like the Dave the Diver" players know: diving, gathering and cooking, just on an alien planet. Studio director Jaeho Hwang said the collaboration was a long-requested idea from players, and Subnautica 2 creative director Anthony Gallegos called the expansion a "love letter" to both games.
This is the last major DLC for Dave the Diver, but not necessarily the last content. Mintrocket says there may still be smaller updates or collaborations depending on player feedback. The studio also confirmed a prequel starring Bancho the Chef, with no release date yet.
Dave the Diver has spent its post-launch life adding guest stars and themed packs, and ending its major DLC run with a crossover into one of 2026's biggest survival games is a fitting send-off. Swapping earthbound marlins for bioluminescent alien fish is a step up in scale, and the free price means anyone who owns the base game gets it.
