Game Freak: Pokémon Studio Announces Weather-Based Laundry Game

Game Freak has announced Ame no Chi Hare Onna for iOS and Android. Game Freak's Ame no Chi Hare Onna is scheduled to launch on iOS and Android in Japan this winter. The game combines magical girl battles with the real-world anxiety of unpredictable weather, the developer revealed in a Japanese press release. The studio is synonymous with Pokémon, but it occasionally ventures outside the tall grass to see what else might stick to the wall.

The game follows Himawari Haruwatari and her companion creature, Pon Arai, who grants her magical weather powers. Together, they must battle possessed household objects that are causing abnormal meteorological conditions.

According to a preview livestream of the game, your laundry is tied directly to your character's hit points. Players must dry their clothes to restore lost HP, which requires good weather—meaning you must defeat the weather-altering monsters before you can finish your chores. It is an ecosystem where meteorological stability is the only thing standing between you and a pile of damp socks.

The details

  • Platforms: iOS, Android
  • Region: Japan (only announced region)
  • Release window: The release window for Ame no Chi Hare Onna in Japan is this winter.

For now, international players will have to settle for doing their laundry the old-fashioned way—without magical creature assistance.
