What it means for the meta
A Versus hotfix for the smoke grenade exploit is in progress; The Coalition says it has already taken enforcement action against exploit and aimbot users.
The Coalition released the third update for Gears of War: E-Day on October 22, a hotfix aimed at stability and crash reduction on Xbox Series X|S, PC and handhelds including the ROG Xbox Ally. It also fixes campaign, Horde Siege and Versus bugs, including players T-posing when they aimed down sights right after blind-firing the Gnasher from medium cover.
The studio says a separate fix is coming for a Versus problem. "We're aware of an exploit in Versus that allows players to see through Smoke Grenades," The Coalition wrote in its patch notes, adding that it has already taken enforcement action against players using it and other cheats such as aimbots. Crashes and freezes during particularly long sessions are still under investigation, per Pure Xbox.
It's the latest in a run of stability work that started before the game's October 6 launch with a pre-launch stability patch. The Coalition says it's also reviewing Versus balance feedback and working on Season 1.
The details
The Gnasher now holds its pose properly. The smoke, for now, still doesn't.
What should The Coalition prioritize in the next update?
