Gears of War: Never Fight Alone Campaign Marks Year Five

A series built on heavy armor and chainsaws continues its quietest, most consistent campaign: keeping players connected when the fighting gets real.

The short version

The Coalition has launched the fifth year of its "Never Fight Alone" campaign, donating 1% of net revenue to Crisis Text Line. The program includes new merchandise today and an upcoming charity bundle in Gears of War: E-Day on October 6.

Gears of War: Never Fight Alone Campaign Marks Year Five

Microsoft and developer The Coalition launched the fifth year of the Gears of War "Never Fight Alone" suicide prevention initiative, the studio announced on Wednesday, September 10, 2026. The program, which pairs the famously gritty, chainsaw-bayonet-wielding shooter franchise with mental health advocacy, enters its fifth year as an established fixture rather than a temporary promotional beat.

"We’re proud to stand with The Coalition and its players," said Dena Trujillo, CEO at Crisis Text Line, in a statement accompanying the announcement on September 10, World Suicide Prevention Day. According to Trujillo, the Gears of War community has helped facilitate over 16,000 crisis conversations through the free, confidential service since the partnership first launched. The Coalition’s brand director, Nicole Fawcette, confirmed the studio will continue its core commitment of donating 1% of net revenue from its products to the global non-profit.

The details

  • Ongoing donation: 1% of net revenue from all Gears of War products goes to Crisis Text Line
  • New merchandise: A limited-edition T-shirt and hoodie designed by illustrator Luke Preece, available for pre-order and estimated to ship in December 2026.
  • In-game bundle: The "Never Fight Alone Charity Bundle" arrives on October 6 alongside the launch of Gears of War: E-Day
  • Bundle contents: Character skin, weapon skin set, emblem, banner, and icon, with all net revenue going to Crisis Text Line

Expanding the net

The long-running initiative is widening its geographic footprint this year. Crisis Text Line has recently joined forces with Aquí Estoy, a non-profit organization serving people in need across 20 Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America, Spain, and the Caribbean. This expansion allows the campaign's resources to reach a broader segment of the global Xbox community.

To fund these operations, the studio is relying on a mix of physical merchandise and upcoming digital goods. This year's campaign artwork was designed by illustrator Luke Preece, a recurring collaborator on Gears of War: E-Day who is best known for his design work with metal acts like Metallica, Sleep Token, and Ozzy Osbourne, as well as science-fiction franchises like Aliens. Preece's heavy-metal-inspired designs are featured on a new T-shirt and hoodie, which went on sale Wednesday, September 10, 2026, through the Xbox Game Studios Shop as pre-orders, with an estimated shipping date of December 2026.

The E-Day integration

The charity drive will also integrate directly into the franchise’s next major release. When Gears of War: E-Day launches on October 6, players will be introduced to the "Never Fight Alone Charity Bundle." All net revenue from this digital package will go directly to Crisis Text Line to support its free, 24/7 mental health and crisis intervention services.

While multiplayer shooters are not traditionally celebrated as bastions of emotional support, the campaign draws directly on the game's core themes. In a universe where squadmates spend decades surviving underground onslaughts together, the idea that soldiers do not fight alone is a rare piece of lore that translates cleanly to the real world.

If you or someone you know is struggling, the campaign offers a direct line to help. Players can text the word "GEARS" to 741741 to be connected with a confidential Crisis Text Line volunteer.
