After 48 years of Jamie Lee Curtis defining horror's ultimate Final Girl, Halloween: The Game has officially handed the needle-sharp role of Laurie Strode to voice actor Chelsea Krause. Developed by IllFonic, the horror adaptation launched on September 8, 2026, featuring a fully revamped look and vocal performance for Haddonfield's famous survivor.
Because IllFonic did not secure Curtis’s likeness rights, Krause—whose previous credits include Genshin Impact and Dune: Awakening—took over the performance entirely. In a September 6 social media post, Krause confirmed that all dialogue, screams, and vocal tracks are completely her own, revealing that nearly half her studio recording sessions were spent meticulously matching scenes from John Carpenter’s original 1978 film.
Laurie plays a key part in the game's single-player campaign, The Night He Came Home, which flips Carpenter's classic narrative by letting players experience the killing spree through Michael Myers' eyes. She is also a playable civilian in the asymmetrical multiplayer mode alongside classic characters like Annie Brackett and Lynda van der Klok, featuring unlockable movie-inspired outfits.
While the horror premise carries massive nostalgia, the game currently sits at a "Mixed" rating on Steam with 68% positive reviews due to launch-window bugs and performance issues. IllFonic has begun rolling out fixes via Patch 1.1.0 and announced upcoming content slated for October 27, 2026, including a free DLC map (Tower Farm) and paid Michael Myers skins.
The details
Replacing genre royalty like Jamie Lee Curtis is a terrifying assignment for any performer, but matching original film screams frame-by-frame in the studio is the exact kind of spooky devotion horror fans live for.
