Muramasa: Revenant Blades Slashes Onto PS5 in February 2027

Vanillaware’s visually striking action RPG Muramasa: Revenant Blades will launch on February 4, 2027, for the PlayStation 5. It is a modern repackaging of a handheld adventure that spent years locked on a portable platform that most players have since retired to a drawer.

Marvelous USA communications manager Luke Brown announced the release date on Thursday, confirming that the title compiles the PlayStation Vita's Muramasa: Rebirth and its side-story DLC, Genroku Legends, into one unified experience. For fans of 2D swordplay, the announcement means one of the studio's most celebrated worlds is finally stepping onto a home console.

Combat is built around fluid 2D swordplay, allowing players to chain normal attacks, dashes, and jumps to fight in the air and on the ground. Defensive play relies on parrying and deflecting incoming ranged projectiles. Character progression is split: Kisuke and Momohime work with the legendary swordsmith Muramasa to forge new blades, while the other four heroes undergo training to learn specialized skills. Both upgrade paths require souls harvested from defeated enemies.
