HoYoverse's cozy galactic life sim Petit Planet launches December 4 as a free download on PC, iOS, and Android, per Gematsu, and a Nintendo Switch 2 version is now confirmed for 2027. The studio revealed the Switch 2 port during its pre-launch special livestream, per GosuGamers.

"The game will first launch on 4 December with full cross-play across PC, iOS, and Android," GosuGamers reported. The Switch 2 version follows later, with no firm date beyond 2027.

The details

  • Release date: December 4, 2026
  • Platforms at launch: PC (Epic Games Store and HoYoverse's client), iOS, Android, with cross-play
  • Switch 2: coming in 2027
  • Price: free download
  • Free cosmetics: 1,000+ clothing and furniture items earnable through gameplay

What is Petit Planet?

Players build a home on their own small planet, shape its land and skies, and befriend a cast of fuzzy Neighbors while farming, fishing, cooking, and exploring the Starsea. The Galactic Bazaar works as a shared hub for trading and socializing with other players. It is HoYoverse, the Genshin Impact studio, trading gacha combat for crop rotation.

What did the livestream reveal?

Beyond the Switch 2 news, the pre-launch program walked through the Neighbors, core systems, and launch events. HoYoverse says more than 1,000 clothing and furniture items can be earned through play at no cost. A "Besties, Made to Match!" event lets friends pre-register together for exclusive clothing, a "Launch a Planet" web event has players design planets for prizes, and a Seasonal Creation Event with cash prizes, in-game rewards, and merch starts at launch.

Petit Planet lands a few weeks before another cozy sim on the calendar, Witchbrook.

Why it matters

Petit Planet is HoYoverse's first life sim, launching free with cross-play on PC and mobile in December before expanding to Switch 2 in 2027.
