PlayStation Blog's Photo Showcase Finds an Unexpected Splash of Forza

Sony's latest virtual photography showcase dives deep into in-game water effects, featuring high-profile titles alongside a surprise appearance from a green-brand rival.

The short version

Sony’s September 11, 2026 “Share of the Week” photo showcase highlighted water physics across multiple titles, including Death Stranding 2. Surprisingly, the PlayStation Blog round-up also featured Microsoft's Forza Horizon 5.

PlayStation has published its latest Share of the Week community spotlight, dedicating the September 11, 2026, edition entirely to virtual H2O. Curated by Kristen Zitani, Manager of Content Communications at Sony Interactive Entertainment, the weekly feature compiled player-submitted screenshots highlighting the best in-game rain, rivers, and reflections.

For a showcase hosted on a primary Sony channel, the collection featured a rather surprising guest star.

Microsoft’s own Forza Horizon 5 made a direct appearance in the gallery, courtesy of a reflection shot captured by user honeysinghzzz. Keeping track of platform exclusivity these days is a bit like monitoring a gym membership in February—the rules are highly subject to change—but seeing a flagship Xbox franchise swim onto the official PlayStation Blog remains a dryly amusing plot twist.

According to the blog post, the rest of the gallery stayed closer to home, showing off a mix of current hits and highly anticipated future titles. Player JAA_PhMode_0510 captured Snake wading through murky depths in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, while fwto_ shared a shot of Jin resting by a river in Ghost of Tsushima. Aloy’s aquatic adventures also made the cut, with DarrellNeloms submitting a shot of her navigating deep currents in Horizon Forbidden West.

Rounding out the aquatic display, user ps5_gamerspov provided a tropical island view from Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and rorottino shared an image of Sam Porter Bridges walking through a scenic creek in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.

The details

  • This week’s theme: Water (rain, reflections, and rivers)
  • Surprise entry: Forza Horizon 5 (captured by honeysinghzzz)
  • Next theme: Seasons
  • Next submission deadline: 11:59 PM PT on September 16, 2026

A crowded week for PlayStation announcements

The photo showcase dropped during a remarkably busy period for the PlayStation Blog, which spent the surrounding days hosting a flurry of major announcements. Among the corporate headlines, Steffi Steffen, Senior Director of Licensed Merchandise at SIE, gave fans a first look at an upcoming LEGO PlayStation set.

Meanwhile, Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President of Global Marketing, revealed limited-edition Grand Theft Auto VI DualSense wireless controllers. For players tracking release calendars, Square Enix’s Zorine Te confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on April 8, 2027, while the blog also revealed a February 4, 2027, launch date for Muramasa: Revenant Blades.

Changing seasons

With the water showcase officially dried off, Sony is already turning its attention to the next round of community submissions. The upcoming theme is “Seasons,” with players invited to share moments embodying spring, summer, autumn, or winter using the standard #PSshare and #PSBlog hashtags.

Whether players choose to capture the snowy peaks of northern wastes or the sun-drenched beaches of upcoming sequels, they have until September 16, 2026, to submit their work. Just make sure to shake the virtual water out of your boots before submitting.
