Sony has announced the custom Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle for $650, scheduled to launch on September 15, 2026. Because nothing says anticipation like buying a console colorway for a game that is still a page on a distant calendar.

The upcoming hardware lineup, which Sony said will open for pre-orders on August 19, 2026, represents the latest attempt to dress up the console in high-profile branding. Along with the standard bundle, the collection will introduce an "adamantium" themed PS5 Pro option, giving the high-end tier its own distinct metallic look to match the clawed protagonist.
For the entry fee of $650, buyers receive a custom black and yellow console design alongside matching DualSense wireless controllers. According to Sony, the aesthetic draws heavily from the character's classic comic book attire, trading the console's traditional sterile white for a loud, bruised-looking yellow and black contrast.
While the core bundle is built around the PS5 Digital Edition, those who prefer physical discs are not entirely left out in the cold. Rather than locking disc-based players out of the theme, Sony plans to offer standalone custom cover kits for $75. These kits will package the standard plates along with the optional parts to accommodate a disc drive, allowing players to adapt the look to their existing setup.
As the console generation matures, custom hardware releases have transitioned from rare novelties to highly coordinated retail events. While broader hardware sales slow down over time, these themed refreshes serve to keep the ecosystem in the headlines.
The details
The standalone plates represent a shift in how console manufacturers approach special editions. Instead of forcing players to buy an entirely new console just to get a fresh coat of paint, the modular design allows for a quick swap. Selling the plates separately for $75 means players can participate in the aesthetic without needing to find room for a second, identical console in their living room.
For those who do want the full package, however, the bundle provides the complete out-of-the-box look from day one.
The September 15, 2026 launch date places this release deep into the current console cycle. Custom hardware bundles serve as a major anchor for physical hardware sales, especially when tied to prominent first-party properties. By offering both high-end PS5 Pro options and standalone modular plates, Sony is attempting to capture both the premium enthusiast market and existing owners who just want a cosmetic upgrade.
