S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Story Expansion 'Cost of Hope' Lands in August

The Exclusion Zone is officially expanding on August 20, 2026, with the launch of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2's first nonlinear story expansion, Cost of Hope. Because if there is one thing Chornobyl needed, it was more ways to get lost in the dark.

According to the launch announcement, the upcoming DLC introduces "dozens of hours" of brand-new, nonlinear gameplay content to the post-apocalyptic shooter. For players who already survived the main campaign's hazards, this means a fresh stack of anomalies, mutated threats, and moral dilemmas where every choice feels like choosing between a bad draft and a cold dinner. This major drop follows earlier mechanical refinements to the base game, such as when S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2's version 2.0 update overhauled the lighting and AI systems.
