PlayStation Asia declared the patch "out now" three days early. Now it actually is, with A-Life draw distance settings and paid squad fast travel.
The short version
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl's Version 2.1 update, The Zone Lookout, is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, adding A-Life NPC visibility range presets, long-distance combat and ballistics tweaks, and paid fast travel with squad leaders — days after PlayStation Asia posted it early.

TL;DR — what matters
• A-Life NPC visibility range presets, including auto-scaling Dynamic
• Paid fast travel with compass-marked squad leaders
• Long-distance combat and ballistics tweaks
A-Life Visibility Presets — Settings > Game > Visualization options controls how far A-Life NPCs are visible; Dynamic preset scales to hardware. Default recommended; presets vary by platform.
Long-Distance Combat — Balance tweaks and adjusted weapon ballistics so distant firefights behave naturally.
Squad Leader Fast Travel — Squad leaders marked on compass escort you to nearby explored locations along their route, for a fee.
Bug Fixes — Broad set of bug fixes and stability improvements.
What it means for the meta
Released October 26, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, days after PlayStation Asia posted the update early.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl's Version 2.1 update, The Zone Lookout, is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC — arriving October 26, three days after PlayStation Asia jumped the schedule and posted an "out now" graphic for the then-unannounced patch. Scheduling slip-ups happen to every publisher, though usually with fewer irradiated anomalies attached.
"We planned it based on the feedback we've heard from you on social media, in forums, and in reviews," developer GSC Game World said of the update.
The headline change is sight distance: a new set of presets under Settings > Game > Visualization options controls how far away A-Life NPCs are visible, including a Dynamic preset that scales to your hardware. GSC recommends the default, warning that higher ranges can hit performance, and notes the boost applies to A-Life NPCs rather than quest-scripted ones — with available presets varying by platform. Long-distance combat got matching work, with balance tweaks and adjusted weapon ballistics so distant firefights sound and feel right.
Fast travel also arrives, Zone-style: squad leaders are now marked on the compass and will escort you along their travel route to nearby locations you have already explored — for a fee. A broad set of bug fixes rounds out the patch.
The details
The update follows August 20's Version 2.0, which landed alongside the Cost of Hope expansion with binoculars and fog. The binoculars finally have something to look at.
