How to Make Frankenstein's Monster in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

Nintendo outlines a ten-step recipe for crafting a custom monster Mii, turning precise forehead tweaks and far-left personality sliders into an oddly self-sufficient islander.

The short version

Nintendo released an official ten-step tutorial for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, walking players through the facial adjustments, face paint settings, and personality trait sliders needed to create a custom monster named Frank N. Monster.

How to Make Frankenstein's Monster in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

Nintendo published an official 10-step guide to building a Frankenstein-inspired Mii in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, via its What's New blog on October 27 — complete with monster-green skin, piercing yellow eyes, and an extremely specific emotional disposition. Halloween has passed, but the recipe for Frank N. Monster works any month of the year.

The guide walks through every facial adjustment and personality setting needed, right down to eyebrow rotation. "This monster needs emotion," Nintendo writes, which tracks for a life sim built on domestic chaos.

The details

  • Character: Frank N. Monster
  • Steps: 10, covering face, features, face paint, and personality
  • Look: strong jawline, monster-green skin, black hair, yellow eyes, dimples, very tall
  • Personality: every trait set to the far left, landing him in the "Reserved" group as an "Observer"
  • Game: Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on Switch 2 and Switch

How to build Frank N. Monster

  1. Head: pick a head shape with a strong jawline and give the skin a monster-green glow.
  2. Hair: choose a cut that shows off the forehead, colored black.
  3. Eyebrows: move them down one step and rotate them inward so they sit flatter — the "disappointed" look. Match their color to the hair if you like.
  4. Eyes: piercing yellow.
  5. Nose: go big, optionally nudged down a bit.
  6. Mouth: choose an expressive one.
  7. Ears: add them.
  8. Details: texture lines plus a couple of dimples, which Nintendo says symbolize "youthful innocence."
  9. Face paint: keep it simple, or use the editor's Pro mode for stitches and scars.
  10. Final touches: make him very tall, name him, add a birthday and age, and slide every personality trait to the far left.

What the game makes of him

Those far-left sliders place Frank in the "Reserved" group with the "Observer" type. At a glance he reads as aloof, with logical, tenacious, cautious traits and a matter-of-fact way of speaking. The Observer profile describes him as self-sufficient and highly individual — he doesn't show much outward emotion, but has a lot going on underneath.

Why it matters

Mii creation has been a Nintendo fixture since the Wii, but official step-by-step blueprints are rare. Mapping exact slider positions to named personality types also shows how Tomodachi Life's behavior system works under the hood — a repeatable formula for building specific islanders instead of trial and error. For a monster famously misunderstood, an introverted Observer is about right.
