The 2006 action RPG Dark Messiah of Might and Magic is officially returning to PC in 2026 through a fan-made, studio-supported overhaul coming to Steam. Supported directly by publisher Ubisoft and Valve, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Community Edition ports Arkane Studios' classic first-person fantasy slasher to an updated 64-bit Source engine—meaning we finally get to kick goblins into wall spikes all over again, but with modern stability.
Development is being driven by community modders who secured official backing from both Valve and Ubisoft to update the game's foundation. Alongside the technical engine upgrade, the upcoming release introduces full cooperative multiplayer, an Adventure mode, a randomized level generator, and a New Game+ option for replaying the campaign.
The details
For those of us who spent the mid-2000s obsessed with Arkane's dark fantasy physics playground, seeing an official studio endorsement for a community-led remaster is absolute perfection. The boots-and-spikes combat loop gets its grand return in 2026, and this time nobody has to brave the dark alone.
