Alex Garland's Elden Ring Movie Wraps Principal Photography

Director Alex Garland has wrapped principal photography on the live-action Elden Ring film adaptation six months after starting, according to a now-deleted social media post. It is the first major step in moving FromSoftware's sprawling fantasy environment to the theater, even if the final result is still far from sight.

The update, which was briefly shared on Instagram before being removed, confirms that physical production has officially concluded. But wrapping a shoot is only the first phase of translating a world of colossal bosses and ancient ruins to the big screen. The project remains "years away" from its theatrical debut, with a lengthy post-production process still ahead.

The details

  • Director: Alex Garland
  • Filming duration: Six months
  • Current status: Principal photography completed
  • Release timeline: Years away from theatrical debut

For now, the production trades the camera rigs for the quiet dark of editing rooms, leaving the Lands Between behind closed doors for a while longer.
