Infinity Ward overhauled the controversial DMZ self-revive perk after players turned a survival tool into an offensive revenge tactic, while rebalancing 13 core weapons.
The short version

What it means for the meta
Infinity Ward says Possum was being used as a combat mechanic instead of a survival mechanic, so the lockout aims to stop instant revenge revives.
Infinity Ward has put DMZ's Possum perk on a leash. An October 28 update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 blocks the self-revive while the team that downed you is still nearby, for up to four minutes, and rebalances 13 weapons, per Game Rant.
"With the current iteration, Possum was being used as a combat mechanic instead of a survival mechanic," Infinity Ward wrote in the patch notes, per GamesRadar. Players had been reviving on the spot and immediately wiping the squad that just beat them, which is a strong argument for checking the body.
The details
Possum gives an operator one self-revive per match. Infinity Ward said "the intention for Possum is to give a high-level operator a second chance," and the new lockout is meant to stop players "from getting right back into the fight which they had just lost." If the enemy team lingers, the restriction lifts once four minutes have passed. The studio said it will watch how the change plays out and that the range and duration could still be adjusted.
The same update touched 13 weapons. The Han 86, Oden, APOC-338, and FiNN LMG were nerfed, while the M4, Kastov 762, Patriot XMR, Type 73, and all five launch SMGs were buffed with faster aiming and damage improvements, among other tweaks. Exact values weren't detailed in the coverage.
Season 1 arrives November 6 with new weapons, maps, and operators, including a Crash variant for Kill Block. DMZ adds XO1, a new location with valuable loot and tougher enemies, and a Wager Match Event runs across Warzone, DMZ, and a Gunfight mode.
The patch landed five days after Modern Warfare 4's October 23 launch and changes how DMZ fights end. Infinity Ward has said the Possum settings may still move based on how players use it.
