Adam Michel, Senior Director of Content Acquisition & Operations at SIE, confirmed the lineup. The monthly games remain standard across all subscription tiers — an active membership is all it takes to claim them and keep access.
The details
The lead title is Dead Island 2 on PS5 and PS4, an action RPG set in a quarantined Los Angeles the game calls HELL-A, built around brutal melee combat, eccentric survivors, and online co-op for up to three players.
Joining it on both consoles is Tomb Raider IV – VI Remastered, bundling the series' Darkness Trilogy: Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider: Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. Players can switch between the original polygonal models and remastered graphics at any time — an option that serves as both a nostalgia toggle and a reminder of how early-2000s 3D actually looked.
Rounding out the month is Monster Train 2, exclusively on PS5. The single-player deckbuilding roguelite has you commanding clans of former angels and demons — five new ones, each with distinct playstyles — to stop the Titans who have seized Heaven, fighting across three vertical train levels on a route through Hell, Heaven, and the Abyss.
Subscribers have until Monday, November 2 to lock in October's drop: F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2. Titles claimed before each deadline stay in your library for as long as the subscription is active, offering a bit of extra padding alongside existing PlayStation Store sales.
The Essential-tier rotation is the main monthly touchpoint for PlayStation Plus subscribers across both console generations, and this cycle covers three distinct niches in one drop: AAA zombie action, classic remasters, and indie strategy.
